Supporting Aquaid Water Coolers and the Africa Trust Revisited
Back in May of this year we featured a short blog post about how our office drinking water suppliers Aquaid Water Coolers are working with a fantastic charity called the Africa Trust , a charity that builds water wells providing clean and safe drinking water to those in need of it most.
In the post we mentioned that, with every purchase of water we make, a donation is made to help build water pumps in villages across Africa and that one was being built especially on our behalf. You can read the post by clicking on the following link.
We now have the pleasure in letting everyone know that our pump has been finished and is already benefitting a new community in Manicaland, a north eastern province in Zimbabwe, that previously had to walk miles simply to access clean drinking water!
The pump in question is an Elephant Pump, an age old design based on a Chinese water pump from over 2000 years ago, the design has been cleverly adapted by Ian Thorpe, CEO of the Africa Trust, to be stronger and more durable, using sustainable materials that are more readily available in the area where the pumps are needed.
Aquaid and the Africa Trust have now installed thousands of these pumps across sub-Saharan Africa and intend to continue to do so for many years to come.
George Thomas, Director commented:
We think that it’s fantastic when a supplier makes such an effort to help others as part of their business model, especially a worthy cause like providing the means to collect water in such tough environments. George Banco will proudly continue to support the Africa Trust by working with Aquaid to ensure generations of people grow up with the basics of life to help them survive like clean water.
